The Daily Show correspondents John Oliver, Rob Riggle and Larry Wilmore made a special appearance this morning at my local polling place on East 92nd Street in Manhattan while I stood in line waiting to vote – it took an hour of standing out on the sidewalk before I was able to vote in the ONE VOTING BOOTH AVAILABLE!
The show’s producers tried to flag people on their way out to participate in “on the street” interviews with Oliver and the others. Most people there, however, seemed less interested in the spectacle of a TV show filming in their midst than on voting and then getting on with their day.
That combined with the long wait these New Yorkers endured indicated to me how serious everyone is taking today’s vote. It’s 7:30 p.m. now and many polls are closing. Go Obama!
